Both are excellent subcompact pistols that any thoughtful pistol buyer might aspire to.
The Glock 43 is a high quality subcompact pistol that was first introduced in 2015. The G43 is also one of the smallest and lightest single-column pistols in the 9mm semi-auto subcompact family. Glock 43s also maintain the Austrian gun maker's reputation for reliability and durability.

The pistol comes standard with a narrower slide than other competing 9mm subcompact pistols, making the pistol very thin and easier to conceal. The compact Glock 43 feels comfortable in the hand and is ideal for deep carry, such as in a trouser pocket or concealed in sunken areas of the body. The G43 also comes with a 6-round drop-in magazine and a 7-round pinky extension magazine for larger hands that need a more comfortable grip.

It's thinner than the G26 and very stealthy. Its lightweight, narrow frame makes it easy and comfortable for little hands to hold. Since its introduction in 2015, Glock has eliminated unnecessary levers from the pistol frame, making the G43 easier to operate and sleeker in appearance. However, just because it's super simple and streamlined doesn't mean you can't outfit the G43 with various aftermarket accessories. Picky Glock owners looking for a little more "tactical cool" won't be happy with the Glock 43.
If the G43 has any real downside, one is its trigger guard. Larger fingers may find the guard a bit uncomfortable after prolonged use. The Glock 43's handle could also benefit from a little painting for a more confident and secure grip. Also, there is no Picatinny rail feature, limiting the types of accessories that can be attached to this Glock. Note that the G43 also cannot handle the G43X's 10-round high-capacity magazine because it is too thick.
Glock first released its striker-style semi-automatic G26 model in 1994. It was specially manufactured by an Austrian gun manufacturer and is highly concealable. The small, ultra-compact size of these "Baby Glock's" make them ideal for any concealed carry preferences a firearm owner may have.
Law enforcement officers (LEOs) think tactically. The 9mm Glock 26 pistol was popular with police as a backup, usually in an ankle holster. The Glock 26 is thicker than the Glock 43 because it requires a double stack magazine that needs to hold 10 bullets.

However, this Glock is very easy to operate right out of the box. Plus, since it's semi-automatic, the Glock 26 has a fast rate of fire. As soon as you can send a round down, it places another and is ready to move on. Shoot until the magazine is empty. Additionally, its smooth operation allows the shooter to quickly bring the gun's sights on target.
Subcompact pistols can be concealed and concealed due to their small size. In this respect, the G26 is emblematic of Glock's hidden design philosophy. With the appropriate holster, you can place the Glock 26 wherever you want. In addition, Glock added its proprietary Universal Glock Rail to the dust cover of the G26 Gen 3 pistol frame for additional accessories such as sights, lasers and lights.
Ultimately, Glock designers agreed that the G26's finger grooves might be uncomfortable for some shooters. In other words, these grooves cause some people to grip the Gen 3 too tightly or not grip it well. Like the Gen 3, the Gen 4 is great for concealed carry. The ease of handling also makes it ideal for those learning to shoot, especially those with small hands. While the G26 Gen 4 isn't exactly ambidextrous, the Gen 4 variant and adjustable magazine catch improve the left-handed shooter's experience. The Glock's RTF, or Rough Textured Frame, also improves a shooter's ability to comfortably hold the G4. This addition proved to be great in wet conditions when grip became very important. One small downside to the Gen 4 is that the trigger pull can be a bit heavy for some given the ultra-compact size. The Glock designers who redesigned the G26 for the 5th generation model decided to remove the pistol finger grooves to make the gun more comfortable and increase durability and accuracy. Glock also improved the finish of the gun. It now features the popular nDLC finish that improves durability and extends the life of your firearm, often by years. This new Glock finish provides better protection for the firearm from wear and harsh environmental conditions.
Glock also increased the G26 Gen 5's accuracy and improved shooting, which was made possible with the Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB). This stock Glock sight has remained the same over the years. For subcompact pistols, however, the new shooter barrel could improve shooter accuracy by as much as 25 meters, Glock said.
For the most part, however, Gen 5 functions the same as Gen 4. The gun's RFT or Rough Textured finish gives the Gen 5 a better grip for improved aim accuracy. Like the G26 Gen 4, the Gen 5 features a proprietary dual recoil spring assembly that absorbs most of the recoil and energy felt while shooting. There's no question the compact G26 is a comfortable gun to carry, weighing just 1.6 pounds fully loaded. Aside from potentially uncomfortable finger grooves on the 3rd and 4th gen versions, the Glock 26 has very little to offer. If those notches are important to you, choose the G26 Gen 5 model.

The magazine compatibility and capacity of the Glock 26 is also very high. It can hold a variety of Glock dual-stack magazines, including those from the Glock 17 and Glock 19, as well as Glock's dual-stack 33-round supercapacity magazine. Don't expect the 33-round magazine in the G26 to be fully hidden.
However, if the ability to fire multiple rounds without reloading is more important, then this is a great gun/magazine setup. Alternatively, you can start with the standard 10-round magazine in the G26. You can keep a spare 33-round magazine in the roomy coat pocket or mag holster.
